Mercedes Clc 180 kompressor sport 2010
Hi Everyone

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas of how I can get a bit more power out of my clc 180 kompressor sport it's a standard 2010 model, which if I'm honest is a bit slow! I don't want anything to over the top just some basic engineer mods which will not wreck it and my be some recommendations of where to take it would be good

Regards

Ian

Excellent thread suggested by Mark for an insight into how it all works. I love stuff like that where people do things "just because".

My basic input would be a pulley swap and remap to start with, the pulley should give you a bit more boost and the map would tell the car how to use it.

Pulley would probably be the biggest gain you can get on your engine without spending huge amounts of money (depending what pulley you buy). In the link Mark gave I decided to do it as a little project but if you took a pulley to a garage I'm sure they would have the tools to fit it for you. Mod'ing anything from standard comes with an element of risk though.

I assume your car has the M271 engine in it. The same 1.8 model is used for 180k, 200k & 230k. I don't really know the engine and I'm not sure what the differences are but I'd take a guess it's about engine mappings, fuel delivery, boost and probably upgraded pistons and other key engine parts to deal with the extra power. You could try looking at components which are on the 230k model. As an example I've seen the 320 engines throttle body upgraded with one from a V8 which allows more air through.

You could also look at other parts. Something like exhaust manifold might give you a little gain but might change the feel or response of the engine. I did this to my previous MG and it sounded and felt great. The rev's were more snappy.
