Think I should make it to 300k in my 211 with the 642, currently on 270k

Just a thought concerning those high milers....and to put it into context. If you have religiously recorded all the costs over this time ( Inc. Purchase cost) and divided it by the mileage, you would find that it has been cheap motoring.

Quote from mbusa.com:

"The latest Mercedes-Benz to be recognized for surpassing the one-million-mile mark is a 1970 280SE acquired for the Mercedes-Benz Museum Collection from its original owners, George and Luzstella Koschel of Orange County, California. The Koschels bought the car new and drove it for 1,019,000 miles."

Some way to go yet, fella's!

Wouldn't touch a high mileage car with a twenty foot pole :(

i would normally prefer high miles and good body over low and tatty , my view, its easier to change a shot motor to a good one than a rough, tatty body into a good one and if the motor lasts, great. i used to bid on cars based onan engine overhaul cost.

i have a well pampered garage queen so i dont entirely aggree . if one buys a hanger queen leaves it in the garage and just expects it to behave on the odd outing then i agree its likely to be a shortsighted policy ,however i go to considerable trouble to keep mine active and available , probrably as much or more than those in everyday use . not an over ecconomic thing to do i aggree however it floats my boat and i will continue .

Would not be afraid of a high mileage car, if it was a reputable make and it has a verifiable service history. Once owned a 1985 Ford Orion 1.6 diesel ( Dice Engine) had about 460'000 Miles on it when I finished with it, and only then because it was falling apart from rust. But engine was still fine.

You are welcome to them Jim. I am on my third low mileage MB. My current one is a 2012 and it has now done 24,800 miles. I have never had an anxious moment with any of them, apart from servicing none of them went any where near a repairer except for a recall for the airbags a couple of years ago. Good luck with your high mileage cars, I sincerely hope they serve you well, but they are just not for me. :)
