For any of my servicing, I'l be sticking to the guy Iv'e been using for about 7 years, he's charging £150-200 for a full service inc the dreaded 12 plugs ( V6), and that's him using either platinum/irridium.
The thing is he's straight talking, no bull.....kind of old school, the only thing he's not very good with (but he's allready told me) is electric's, but he get's someone in for that. I just dont trust stealer's at all, and I dont like all that "yes sir......would you like a tea/coffee" attitude and smile's.

Damn Right

So that's plugs changed with a £50 discount and a free service thrown in.
Something of a no brainer really.
3 guesses where mine's going for its service in 3 weeks time. Its a 'Diagnostic service' so no-one can give me an exact quote but
Dealer £550 ish, indie £300 ish and if there are any extras, it will be at £45ph not £90ph - same job (but with better oil), same MB trained mechanics, same diagnostic equipment and tools, but no coffee percolator. I reckon £250 is rather a lot for a cup of coffee!

I'm not being tight but with the oil put in by the dealer when I bought it, I only got 10,000 miles before the assyst started shouting for more. Over only 5 months with mostly motorway running, I expected better. At that rate, it's working out at 5.5p per mile for servicing alone!

Large companies will pay anything as they don't know any better and its pretty insignificant to them in the great scheme of things, but they are pricing themselves out of the owner-driver market IMO. Still given the 3 week waiting list for the dealer workshops it's obviously working for them. A fool and his money and all that ...

Well that's what he said, I told him how expensive and hard they plugs were to buy and change and said "I know". He's £25ph, and the day went to see about it (to tell him about the plug's incase he didn't know but he did!) he had his mate's SLK/CLK 200 convertable in for a f/s too, but that was only a 4 pot.

he's just a wee dindgy outfit, no frill's/bull ect....but that's what I like.
