ignition swap c230k

so my ignition went out on my 1999 c230k and i had put in a 2000 c230k ignition in it. it fit in perfectly. i have the key to that ignition so when i put it in it turns all the way but wont start the car. I was wondering if all i had to do was reprogram the ignition or if it wouldnt work at all?

You need the matched steering lock and engine ECU as well.
You see these sets on Ebay from around £100 for a W202.

okay thanks for the reply so what if i order a ignition with a key that would match my vin number, would that be able to work without getting a new ecu and steering lock ?
