I was with Saga until the renewal, shot up by £85, so went on compare sight and Hasting were very much cheaper. Now for my other one I went on the compare sight and was quoted £222.58, so I left it for a few days, and re checked one very early morning, only to have another quote by the same company for £177 68, so not sure if the time of day makes any difference or not

Premiums can change daily and renewing with the same company is fine if you are happy with the premium.

I had 3 years with Hasings until this year the premium shot up by over £100
On informing them I woudn't be renewing, they suddenly matched my best quote and dropped by £80+.
Too late I told them. They had their chance and got greedy. Insurance premiums are a bit of a joke and its a game played at every renewal for me.

I dont know why I cant insure all three of mine for the same price, I cant drive all three at the same time so why do I have to have three separate policies, they are all old nails to the insurance companies, and I would never get the true value back..ever

Just my 2penny worth on insurance had my renewal showing £75 increase rang them was told that there was nothing they could do,ok so I checked on laptop found a cheaper price but with my existing insurer for same thing, back to insurance company again their answer was yes it was possible to get a better price online and they altered my renewal price to the online price, its all a ripoff.

^ I'm afraid I view insurance companies with the same distrust as second hand car dealers.
It's an annual game to get the best value and cover for a fair price. If you don't query the renewal price or check out different options you are throwing money away.

Agreed!
I can’t get comfortable being told my no claim bonus would remain intact after the no fault accident swmbo had in the XC90, yet the AMG renewal came in up 25% because of said no fault claim...(I’m main driver and owner on both cars)..
Complete rubbish anyway as apparently I can’t have a no claims bonus on 2 cars!
Annoyingly I shopped around and incumbent insurers are still the cheapest...
Still irks to pay £388 last year and £524 this year!

I've just renewed my SL. Last year with AA was £230, this year with SAGA, £181. Very happy with that, especially with a 3 month, Euro trip coming up later in the year.

It's good to be an old git on occasions.

You must be a very old git as I have found Saga too expensive on my last 4x renewals, I think they are prejudiced against us younguns

Oi. Less of the very old. I've only just started taking my pension.

Perhaps they don't like your post code. I'm in a sleepy Kent village, where, if a gnome goes missing, it makes the Parish Magazine.

Me too replace Kent with sleepy rural Essex, I have just qualified for Saga though Riaas were as bad, which SL do you have?

3.7 350. No ABC or timing gear issues for me and no 55 budget.
That may explain it, I guess Saga are punishing me for having a 4.7l V8, also no ABC for same reason kept me away from the SL63....

For someone retired you either get up very early or is it very late to bed looking at the timing of your post! Is this another reason to delay my retirement?

i used to be insured with hastings direct. Had a minor collision where the other party assumed full liability..
Hastings were far from any good at all. In fact they were so bad i had to use an accident management company to sort it out while hastings sat on their asses and did bugger all.. Hastings uses albany as their accident arm, they were totally useless too !

I was with Admiral a few years ago. They were good during the first year as the 3 cars were added but not so competitive at the renewal
