I get you now Andy. Yes mine is a slight L shape and as you say hangs over onto the boot face. There is a little half moon shape also to accommodate the star badge, whereas looking at yours it’s just flat. Wonder if the W204 OEM one looks like that or like mine?

I've seen some more expensive ones with more of an L shape, mine seems to be more generic. I don't mind just as long as my car doesn't look like it's been owned by a 19 year old that reads Max Power!!

Stick it on with some Blutak Andy before attaching it properly and leave it on for an hour or two, take a few photos in different lights (not drive it of course!). That way you can sensibly decide. Nothing worse than doing it then think it’s naff.
I did that with mine on a Saturday morning (I was lucky, being in the L it just sat on), before deciding it looked right and did it permanently.

Good advice John, I've seen them online and they look ok, but this is me fitting it! You also have to create the curve yourself and this is not pre-curved to the shame of the boot.
I will do this Saturday morning while I am applying the CHIPEX, which I have to say the kit contains everything, not sure I will require the added polish, but maybe that is designed for this type of touch-up.

Ok, some blue tacked in pics. Getting the start correct will be a challenge as there is no obvious edge.

Looks a little to far away from the rear edge to me, not bad but I think 5-8mm closer and you'd be right

Thanks Matty, the bit on the left side does look further away but it's a little raised because of the blue tack. Or was it the whole things in general? I was using my thumb to try and get it as flush as possible, very tricky. It also moved a fraction when some of the blue tack came loose.

Yeah might just be because of the blue tack, but I'd be tempted to get some masking tape around the edge of where you want it to finish will be easier when you try to fit it too

That would work, personally I'd run it across the entire rear then you know your getting a perfect finish to the edge if the boot

I ran some masking tape, but was still a job getting it right. Looks ok, the edges could have been a bit better.

That looks cleaner than before, the edges don't look bad either I think it's the light now

Cheers, it's not 100%, but I think I would struggle again if I was to remove a start over, plus the wife came out mid way and said "what you doing", before rolling her eyes and going back in the house. this was then followed by "how much did that cost?"

BTW both edges are a few MM from the edge of the lid.

Sorry Andy I was forced to be forum free for a while since the wife’s off early morning on a girls weekend...
I clean forgot to mention the placeholding with masking tape bit - doh! That’s the way...anyway your last one looks fairly spot on so you got there with Matts guidance !

Cheers John, yeah Matt was spot on. The hardest part was how to start, but looks ok, I'm happy with it.
