Hello gents, and ladies of course,

I am going to look at a facelift W212 tomorrow, which does the ILS system. One thing I am not sure about is the high beam assist. On my 2011 it is the version that only dips the lights when required + range adjustment.
On the facelift, is it the system that creates a black spot around the other cars, or does it work very much the same as my system?
Any input appreciated.

Many thanks

I have a facelift 212 with the intelligent led headlights including high beam assist. They switch to high beam when conditions are right (seems to depend on speed, ambient light and other cars nearby). When it is in high beam mode it blanks out sectors so as to not blind other drivers and it bends the beam pattern to illuminate what needs to be illuminated. Overall it is absolutely fantastic.

Great, that’s what I needed to know. I am familiar with the conditions as mine has ILS as well, albeit the xenon version. I just needed to know if the LEDs blank out, which as you say they do so. It is creating a black spot around the vehicles isn’t it?

Yup. The 212 facelift LED ILS is full shebang; bendy beam, cornering lamp, DRL, auto highbeam and moving black spot all combined. Really, really good system.

Just make sure your windscreen stays very clean, top centre.

Yes, black spot around vehicles. It really is magic.

These are the best lights I have had on any car, just what they do is unbelievable

As you drive up behind someone with lights on auto, you can see the bean reposition it’s self not the blind the car in front

As others have said. Yes!
For some reason I preferred these Xenon based ILS than the newer LED ILS. The 212 Facelift I had was fantastic in this regard.
