hi.
Maybe was posted before( if so can be removed by admin)

What is the correct level of oil shown on dashboard? On w211, 2004 e270.
In the manual is 6,5l .
Recently changed the oil( 10w40- liqui moly) and it’s showing from 7,2 l up on idle and 6.7 at around 4000rpm.

I have checked it a number of times at each oil change. It takes 6.5 litres at every oil change and when I check it next morning it reads between 6.2 - 6.3 litres pre start up.
When was the last time you changed the oil? Check if oil level sensor is properly fitted. If it is, then check the oil via manual method (you have to buy the guage though to do it). Are you topping up coolant in coolant reservoir lately?

This. Measure oil level engine off. As the engine runs oil is thrown onto all the interior surfaces and it takes time for it to return to the sump.

You changed the oil last week, how much did you put in? I imagine 6.5 litres as you have posted above? I have the same car as yours and I would suggest you check the oil level manually using the guage to determine a faulty oil level sensor.

My 211 lets me read the oil level when running. I can read the level from still and watch as it falls to the lower level as the engine runs.

Oils meant to be measured cold and in the sump . not swirling around the engine.

I would have always agreed with you .... and that's what I always did. But since owning a Smart Roadster & my Merc they've always said it should be dipped be hot but after 5 mins or so to let the oil drain to the sump.
