Little silver nipples (oooerrr) on doorhandles

Hi All, great forum!

A proud owner of an 2000 S320 for the last couple of months, now a few niglly little problems with it but nothing major.

BUT, on all four door handles (internal) there's a little silver nipple, my inquisitive kids have decided to push them in, what are they there for, what do they do, have they wrecked my pride and joy by doing so?

Also, anybody know where I would pick up a user manual for the S320 as I'm a tad lost when it comes to programming the radio stations and the like and wondering what most of the buttons do (figured out a few from watching top gear).

The little silver nipples are actually very small lights. When you are in the pitch dark they show a very subdued light on the door handle. Quite attractive really, but not a great deal of use.

There are two hardback books that come with the car (one for comand), the dealer can order them for you but they are expensive. My advice is to keep an eye out on E Bay. They do come up and usually sell for about £12.

IMHO the interior lighting package is one of the nice things about MB's. The warm orange glow over the door handles, the footwells and the centre consul means you don't fumble around in the dark looking for things. Once whilst waiting in the car I counted >96 lights and LED's in the interior alone.
