Did that post and my reply just get deleted?

The purpose of this thread:

"No debate...

Just thoughts and sorrow for the dead and their families and friends.
And thanks for the work that our Police and Emergency Medics do".

Another sad bit of news regarding the London Bridge attack:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-40192321

Police searching for Xavier Thomas, 45, recovered a body from the Thames on Tuesday evening.
- The discovery pushed the overall death toll to eight and brings the total of French victims to three.

RIP

I shouldn't be surprised that you deleted my post, which by the way could only have offended a terrorist,
it rather proves my point that as a nation we have grown so weak that we dare not even discuss the issues in case we upset the delicate sensibilities of an ethnic minority. I'm sure you will delete this as well as it is clearly not cheerful or witty.

Say what you like...I will delete it if I feel you are offending "minority" members. Eventually I will just delete you.

The victims of this cancer are spread indiscriminately, age, sex and it seems religion around the world.
Thankfully resolve is building to end this suffering.
The coming week will see some harrowing sights as the truly innocent are put to rest.

On sky news , footage just released shows the moment the terrorists are shot dead , the INCREDIBLE BRAVERY and selfless courage of the initial police officers who engage them at what looks like a matter of under 10 feet . I'm left feeling humbled .

I have to agree with you - I don't think any amount of training prepares these guys for what they had to face on that dreadful day.

Fully agree. Shame the rolling police car didn’t run the scumbags over as well just for good measure.

Careful, they might have had an insurance claim against them ;)

Actually it's perhaps a shame they were "despatched"... if they had been seriously wounded, our spooks could have got plenty of info out of them...
- I certainly don't suggest changing our chaps terms of engagement for one minute, but I just wonder if we ever might have the opportunity to immobilise/disable to the point where they might prove useful to prevent more incidents. But of course, they have quite enough to think about at the time and I'm just glad they got home afterwards.
- And at the end they quietly disappear as unsung heroes!

I also wonder about that. Shoot to maim rather than kill. Although from my experience of firearms I would not want to be having to do that in such a such a situation.

They were wearing fake suicide vests which they didn’t know were fake at the time. The police carried out the safest possible action.

Agreed - and I did say "I certainly don't suggest changing our chaps terms of engagement for one minute" and as Yuggy says it would be very, very difficult.

Head and centre mass, enough rounds down to see daylight through the target...

I think the X Ray would be mangled rather than maimed. Is that close enough? :)

Sorry didn’t mean that to sound like I was getting at you.

Just explaining that they dealt with them in the only safest way possible.

Whilst I'm sure the failure to set the parking brake was an oversight, with hindsight, the potential to have a Suicide Vest in front of one, and a fueled vehicle to the rear, perhaps it was best that it was 'allowed to roll on'.

Brave Officers. They, and their families, will have to live with the memories of that evening for the rest of their lives.

It's what they volunteered/were trained for but, no amount of training can erase the memories of what happened on that particular day.

Thoughts for the Officers involved.
