The concrete barriers cost around £35/m. Planning work is pretty much free to the government - they would have to pay the civil serpents salaries anyway- until they subcontract out the build, and there's so little value add in it I don't see it costing much more.

By the way, I had a quick look. In terms of planning to install concrete barriers, it's all already been done and legislation exists to drop them at zero notice.

Changing the subject a little, I saw this on the bottom of Beeb page:

- This is a UK government scheme using early intervention to stop people becoming radicalised.

The report said the policy was "inconsistent with the principle of the rule of law" but the Home Office said the report makes "a series of assertions that are simply not true". There follows a few negative comments by politicians etc

Bearing in mind that we are members of UN and carry out bombing raids etc subject to UN resolution, I suppose we should be seen to be whiter than white but in the absence of grabbing people off the street and locking them up "just in case" what are we supposed to do - wait until some kid plants a bomb and then check if he was radicalised?

It presents itself as fairness but is in fact intolerance which attempts to restrict and control people’s language by enforcing a strict code of rules and conduct. I assume that you think that I am a rascist, you could not be more wrong. You may remember that the post which you chose to delete, said that in my opinion there should be armed police outside every Mosque. In light of last night’s events do you now accept that this may not have been such a bad idea after all ?
