Came across an article about this year London - Brighton run, and had a feeling I recognise one of the cars:

I wasn't wrong - this photo (among many others) was taken by yours truly twenty-six years ago:

I have to say, it looked a bit fresher, back in 1992 ...

Those toys are worth serious money! Years ago I helped a friend collect a 1903 De Dion Bouton 7 1/2HP (IIRC her name was Chloe, but I'm not sure) he'd bought. Made him a new mahogany box for the trembler ignition coils on the dashboard. Not that many years later he sold the car, describing the price he received as "jumbo jet money", which I think meant £74.7k!! The man he bought it from had a large building full of 1900-1930 cars, I tremble to think what they were/are worth - MB, RR, Bentley, Naipier and many others.

They are lovely to look at, and it's incredible that, they still run, at least once a year, and not just seat in a museum (which is hugely enjoyable too).

Great to see that LostKiwi is still with us, aka the passenger in 1992...

I shot two rolls of film (28 frames of 6x4.5) for myself*, but only scanned a few negs in, the rest can only be seen on a contact sheet:

    * I was actually there to photograph Lord Montagu (the 3rd Baron), as he was going to test a GPS satnav unit ... Yes, in 1992.

Its good to see them out and about and is a spectacle I have yet to see in the flesh.

We have come a long way in the comfort stakes and sitting in your car in shirt sleeves in the snow is an example.
