Hi All,

Wasn't sure where to post this problem so apologies in advance.

For the last few months I was driving around my SL55 with loads of air noise above 60mph. I thought the roof may need adjusting but it seems that the roof mechanism is fine. The panoramic roof is loose. I can literally put some pressure on it from inside the car and the glass easily pushes up by 5mm.

Need to get it resealed but dont know who can do this kind of work. Tried various glaziers who don't want to know. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks Titch

I know that's an obvious one. Just never have faith in them as they always seem to quote for outrageous fixes. Knowing my local one I'll be looking at an entire vario roof!!! I'll shout them in the morning to see what they come back with....

Cannot find a thing in WIS so far, as I intend to lubricate my seal in the morning and I will have my roof open I will try and see what holds it all in.

I have some info on remover the front section,, it is imperative that only the correct bolts are touched or the factory alignment will get get restored.

There could be some broken clips on the front rail.

Hi,

I thought I'd give everyone an update on the roof problem. Turns out main dealer couldn't rebond the panoramic roof down. They called in another company who had a look and said that the roof will probably break if they try to reinstall it. Cost for new glass, over £2300.

Autoglass and a couple of other companies refuse to touch also stating that they will accept no liability if the roof glass breaks. One guy said just use silicone on the outside and it should solve the problem of air noise and seal it?!?!

Does any one have any ideas? :D

Otherwise it means that I have to stay on the boring side of 50mph if I dont want cabin noise!!! hahaha

Thanks Malcolm. Yeah, the mastic sounds a much better proposition. What brand would you recommend?
