Did you know that Willys (of the Jeep fame) built a Cabriolet, Coupé and Berlinetta version of the Apline in Brazil under the name Willys Interlagos when Willys and Renault do Brasil had a kind of joint-venture?

Did you know that Willys (of the Jeep fame) built a Cabriolet, Coupé and Berlinetta version of the Apline in Brazil under the name Willys Interlagos when Willys and Renault do Brasil had a kind of joint-venture?

I was dimly aware of a version built somewhere in S.America,but that's all I knew.Interesting info :)

I felt the A110 'clone' was missing a je ne sais quois.Unfortunately I have to agree with you about the funding issue for the new one.Fabulous looking car though.

I felt the A110 'clone' was missing a je ne sais quois....

Absolutely - the original Alpine was raw, minimalist and built like a Lotus (i.e.it needed a rebuild every weekend). It would rev like the clappers and there was really only one position for the loud pedal, and that was flat against the floor..... and it was utterly and unmistakeably french. The Willys clone looks altogether too limp wristed. ;)
