Just a quick question. Would a failed maf sensor on my w211 3.0 cdi 2006 give rise to a failure on the exhaust back pressure sensor too. Have just bought the car and garage is replacing maf sensor. Should I be pushing for exhaust sensor too?
Codes are P0473 and P0101 from my scanner
Thanks in advance

No.

Why are you replacing the MAF? Hardly ever fail, only ever replaced 2 in 10+ years those engines have been around.
Garage scanner saying check component bank 1 maf sensor. That fault will not clear. Only had car 2 days when EML came on, so a warranty job

Let us know if it doesn’t fix it.
Well the garage have replaced the maf sensor. Car now revs up without misfire ... great. Started the car this morning and engine light on again. Scan the codes and guess what. P0101 and P0473. Maf sensor and exhaust back pressure high. Same codes as originally. Where is the exhaust pressure sensor location on a w211 e320 cdi ?

The back pressure sensor is next to the turbo, but bears no relation to the MAF.

I would seek the advice of a MB specialist who can accurately diagnose your fault. The original garage has guessed at it. You are starting to guess at it. Its no way to fix a car.

Like I said before, I have only ever replaced 2 MAF's on these engines in 10+years, they just don't go wrong. All of the components you have replaced or are thinking of replacing can be tested on STAR diagnosis.

Had the car at an indie ( MB Liverpool) who confirmed exhaust back pressure sensor fault. Changed it tonight and so far no codes being recorded. Fingers crossed that was the problem

Get your MAF back there was probably nothing wrong with it - perhaps just a clean at worst?

Maybe the back pressure sensors not faulty, maybe there actually is too much back pressure ;)

Was giving high voltage on star. Replacement is not causing any dtc codes
