Does your policy include repair by a mercedes approved bodyshop, as not to lose the 30 year corrosion warranty?

Also are they repaired by a mercedes approved garage as not to invalidate my 3 year warranty?

Hi
There are approved garages all over the country and some Mercedes ones may be approved.

However, if not, you still have the option to choose your own garage.

as stated
my quote was £370 dearer from chris knott went with l.v. instead! dave:confused:

I did some checking and as often happens, although initial premium looks more interesting, the exclusions, lack of bonus protection and conditional cover for theft outside the house, add to this a need to have seperate European cover and CK's policy with 90 days free Euro cover was competitive.

So renewed with CK. Better the devil.............lol

People think insurance premiums are only done on area and crime and claim rate. Answer me this. First day internet quote search. £609, second day £630, third day £720, next week £680, bought insurance at £630 but a week before my renewal day and all these quotes came from the same company £500, cancelled my first purchase and rebought at £500. How can the quotes change so much in such a short time and all the companies on the search quotes all went up and down.

I believe places like london what are seen as higher insurance areas so people living there expect to pay higher premiums are ripped off with loading over and above the risk. Thats just my opinion.

I think its down to the weather on the day you apply, or maybe how the underwriters mood is because nothing can explain the wide gap between the lowest and highest quote.

Bear in mind the expression "think of a number" Mike!

It purports to be a scientific business, with each premium set as a result of "risk assessment", yet examples abound where the customer can provide evidence which should lower the risk (and therefore the premium) only to see it increased.

I added my son (age 35, 17 years without a claim) to my SL policy a couple of years ago. Slight increase in premium. The holiday we were about to take had to be canceled, so I contacted the insurers to take his name off again - large increase in premium! Go figure.

The same effects seem to operate with airline fares - if you don't like their first guess, they are often able to produce a much more attractive price in spite of the fact they are using the same factors.

I am amazed that anyone believes there is any substantial difference between an Insurance Company and an on course bookie's business model.
One though has the advantage of the bet being a legal requirement.
How can you be suprised that the prices change with the weather/mood/risk just like Honest Joe stood on his box.
Do the leg work and get the best odds/premium/value

I called for a quote today, you was unable to do any better than match my current renewal price as you were using the same insurer. I went elsewhere and paid £300 less.

I also had a quote for buildings/contents but Barclays were half the price for the same cover.

307d pickup insurance

I own a 1989 307d dropside pick up and I am finding it impossible to insure as the insurers database only shows hitop van and does not recognise it in a truck form
Can anybody help or has anybody had the same response

Trot, we'd be happy to take a look at this for you. I don't think the fact that the vehicle is not recognised by the system will present us with an issue subject to other risk criteria being acceptable. We'd certainly welcome the opportunity to help.

This month in particular has seen a great response from forum members to our flexible pricing strategy. It's so successful that we're signing up around 38% of all quotes offered - that's better than one in every 3 quotes (almost 4 in 10).

I also just wanted to remind you that there are only a couple more weeks left until we close our Prize Draw for an iPad Mini. All you need to do to enter is ask us to quote for your car insurance before 31st May.

Please give us a try if your insurance is due soon - others are saving £££s and there's the chance to WIN an iPad Mini. But that's not all we have to offer...

If there were 4 comments that best sum up the benefits of our service, it's these, received in recent weeks:

"Mine's all sorted signed and sealed with CK. Very quick and easy and most importantly, an efficient/professional service. Compared to the original renewal from Churchill, CK were over £300 cheaper. Compared to the cheapest quote from the usual sites, CK were around £50-£100 cheaper." Akash - VWAudi Forum

"Many thanks for all your help - it makes the whole process much less of a chore dealing with a friendly, helpful & professional human being rather than a faceless website! Also I appreciate the fact that Chris Knott advertise a 'proper' number so that it doesn't cost a fortune calling from a mobile. I will definitely be recommending Chris Knott to anyone who asks." D Birtles, Recommended by a friend

"Chris Knott have just given me an absolute steal of a price. I can't tell you or you'd not take this post seriously! I only left them as they had a funny uncompetitive year but they are back and I am very happy to be with them instead of some random internet only cowboys." ofnpanad, AlfaOwner.com

"Well, I've just taken out my S-Max insurance with Chris Knott, and I have to say that Rebecca did a fabulous job of finding me a great quote, recognised my lack of computer skills and talked me through everything. How nice it is to talk with someone who is professional and patient. For the first time, speaking with insurance companies today, I actually felt that I was being valued as a customer. Any problems or concerns and I only have to call back, and chances are I can speak to the same person again. Well done Chris Knott Insurance for restoring my faith in customer service." Fezzer, SMax Owners Club

You should call Chris Knott Insurance for a car quote and to benefit from a better level of service. Find out how much you could save and, if calling before 31st May, get free entry into our iPad Mini draw. Hurry - not long left for the draw!!

We'll be running another great competition via our Facebook page soon - so please LIKE the Chris Knott Facebook page. In addition, there'll be a draw for a year's FREE UK Breakdown Cover once we reach 500 LIKES. Don't miss out!

I recall this company refusing to deal with me due to my OL postcode - OL doesn't just cover Oldham - it covers an enormous area including rural and semi rural areas.

I won't bother getting a quote, as despite living in such a horrendous "crime hotspot" I'm insuring a new SLK 250CDi and a new Yamahahaha R1 for less than £400 for the pair. And my motocrosser was an extra six quid. No silly conditions. No daft excess. No patronising broker.

(I'm 45, lived here all my life and never had a thing stolen.)

Refusal of Insurance

Orb,
Same happened to me, I have been driving for 43 years now. I have over 20 years "no claims", in that time I have had no accidents, break in's or cars stolen, but because I live in an area of Merseyside I am refused insurance. Sometimes it's like living in a leper colony (sorry lepers)

We set out our stall in the original post at the top of this thread. It clearly states that this scheme is no good if you live in some of the M, L or OL postcodes or the SK1-12 codes.

The only change since that post in 2011 is that insurers have released some of the better areas within those postcodes so that we can now quote.

So actually the scheme has broadened its criteria in response to comments from members in these fringe areas.

There are so many postcodes within these areas that we aren't able to produce a list of the specific codes but the message is 'give us a try even if we haven't been able to quote in the past, especially if you think you live in one of the better zones in your area'.

Please remember to include MBO Insurance (through car club specialist Chris Knott) in the mix when searching for a car insurance quote.

For good drivers, we can often beat your best alternative quote when we know what it is - dis-regarding what the system says we should be quoting. That's because our insurer partners trust us and allow us to quote what we need to to get them good quality business.

This year so far we're signing up even more forum members than last year so we must be doing something right!

"Ian insured with Chris Knott a couple of weeks ago and reported the best deal he's ever had, thanks guys" said Alfanutz admin, Zender156.

Call MBO Insurance and we'll find you the best deal based on your individual needs. Alternatively, you can complete brief details at http://www.chrisknott.co.uk/CarQuote and we'll call you back.

High for the industry, 78% of Chris Knott's clients are renewing this year too, which means we are pretty consistent in our pricing - not looking to change the rate if the risk is the same as last year.

It's true there have been a few comments regarding the length of time it takes for us to answer calls. But we're pleased to say that we've listened to feedback and have now made it easier for you to get through to the quoting team. They were previously handling other types of enquiry but we're now fielding those enquiries to a separate, dedicated team. You should notice a great improvement.

Pick up the phone today if you're due in the next few weeks and see how much MBO Insurance can save you.

As a member of ourMercedes Owners' club, you will enjoy numerous savings on an expanding range of services including, Insurance, Parts and Servicing, RAC Membership plus much more.MBOmembers can save around £200.00 a year. You can join from as little as £30.00 and start to enjoy these savings immediately. You receive our monthly magazine and free classified ads when you decide to trade up a model.
