Hi, thanks for clarifying. If it's just the MB designated AMG as a trim level that should be fine (subject to length of ownership, claims record and postcode) but if it's a performance AMG we'd need him to be at least 25.

Hi, logic would suggest that rates need to rise but insurers will be reluctant to increase rates because they don't want to price themselves out. It's a case of last one to brake wins the volume.

sounds like the well priced ones will go up first then and the expensive ones last. considering (in my case) mine never came down last year, when they were supposed to be dropping by a big margin, im sure you can appreciate how annoying this is for me, especially when so many people are paying so much less for insurance despite being similar age, higher risk vehicles and postcodes etc anyhow.........

Recent experience suggest costs will go up, as the industry as a whole seems quite content to accept inflated prices for work undertaken. (Or indeed, work not undertaken...)

Bring back a physical insurance claim assessor, I say. At least then somebody with a passing interest actually looked at the work required!

dads car had a minor nudge and the insurance bodyshop werent happy as he took the loan car and collected his car the day before he had been told. the car was fitted with a new rear bumper, i believe. the damage? dad said half an hour with a machine polisher would have cured it to as near perfect as would matter, in his opinion (so probably a quick rub down and a splash of paint in reality) but no. the car had to go to the bodyshop for 5 DAYS!!!!!!!

Similar experience here recently, although recovery and delivery costs were also added (the body shop didn't do either), and they sat on the car for 5 days before starting work (which totalled 7.8hrs!) then expected somebody else to pick up 7 days hire car charges when the job only required 2 days!

A few years ago, a lad rear-ended my dad's Disco II - just under £6 for the inset rear light lense (he had ARB steel bumpers fore &.aft), £8 for a rattle can of body-coloured spray, oh... And a new plastic tow-ball cover (£1.50?) - Dad's insurer charged the lad £800!!! Dad wrote a fairly strong letter outlining the work they'd authorised and asking them to explain where they'd got £800 from - not even the courtesy of a reply.

Any other walk of life, that would be an open & shut case of fraud, I'd have thought!

my insurance is due very early March. im currently with you for my insurance and have had other companies chasing my business with some very tempting quotes (compared to last year) BUT all are asking what my renewal quote is, and i havent had it yet. seems a little odd that ive heard nothing as yet and renewal is around 3 weeks away
