Hi all,

I'm a first time merc owner and would like some advice from you fellow owners ...

I have a 2007 slk280 that has the pre wiring hub in the centre console, and would like to know which way is best to go hands free, do I buy the Mercedes Bluetooth adapter or do I buy a parrot? or third option and buy a stereo that has built in Bluetooth ( although I am very happy with the sound quality of the factory fitted stereo ).

All advice welcome, looking for clear sound quality and ease of use

Thanks in advance

I would normally have recommended the Viseeo, but on another post I understood they're not making them anymore? So I'd go with the Mercedes one I think to retain the Mercedes link. The guys to ask are Comandonline , give your VIN number and they will offer the best solution...
Oh and welcome!

I did exactly this a few weeks ago. Mercedes part from commadonline. Not cheap but works faultlessly. The call quality is very good. Cost just shy of £300 inc postage.

Thanks for the reply Trev, it's all about the call quality at the end of the day, and the Bluetooth adapter will obviously be the better looking option as it just hides away

If you have (as I do) the telephone pre-wiring cradle in the centre arm rest, you may be able to get a cradle specific to your phone that not only links to the Comand and steering wheel buttons, but also charges your phone while it's in the cradle. In my car it's the only 12v that's live ignition off! However, change your phone and you need a different cradle - daughter a while ago upgraded me from Nokia 6300 (cradle from ebay for £15) to Iphone 4S (cradle from Ebay De for about £50!).

The best integration will be with the Mercedes HFP adapter. Best call quality too. viseeo products no longer made. they have been out of production for about a year now. The HFP will fully integrate with your steering wheel controls and cluster. A parrot nor another headunit will do this all.

As Alfie says, it integrates faultlessly. It really is the best solution, if a bit pricy. I'm glad I did it.

I have the MB adapter in the centre armrest, which works for me - but I also have the Jabra Freeway, and it works better. The sound quality is superior, and I do not have to scroll contacts - just tell the Freeway and it will dial, or get it to read out or send my messages, etc. It doesn't mute the radio though - I actually have to push a button to do that! So far, I find the MB adapter useful but fiddly. Maybe it has more functions than I've so far found ... I'm no technical guru.

Jabra freeway?

Old tech. Just a clip-on hands free phone answering device - but coupled to my mobile it does everything I need, and more than my brief description above - all by spoken commands.

I have it in one Merc and the MB hfb adapter in the other. Maybe I'm not using all the functionality of the MB unit, but I find scrolling via the steering wheel buttons fiddly, and have often misdialled due to that.

Umble.
