Mercedes W202 Sport Estate 1999
Hi everyone, Ive just recently joined this forum page as i was recommended to by an ebayer.
So the reason to why i have joined the forum is pretty much to advertise my Mercedes C280 sport w202 1998 estate. This is a very rare car and was an ongoing project for me. However due to the lack of time, i haven't been able to complete this project. Its loaded with a grey leather interior, full C43 AMG under carriage after carrying out some research online, and its packed with a powerful 3.0 V6 engine which is smooth and ever so nice to drive.

As this car is for sale, the AMG monoblocks wont be included in the sale, however i will throw on the replica monoblocks which i have on the other car.

Please do not hesitate to contact me on 07956173476 for any questions or queries about the car.

Thanks.

As it is a rare car, with a solid engine and only 2 owners, i would look to achieve 2,000 pounds

I've got some decent grey leather (210, electric) front seats available.
And some OEM 'mint' front wings.

I think your pricing is somewhat optimistic. Rusty front wings, knackered seat, scuffed corners, sills look dodgy, rear wheel arches look dodgy, star missing off bonnet and an 'incomplete project' so heaven knows what else. Has this been used as a donor for the other one?
Incidentally it's a 2.8 litre engine not a 3 litre (unless someone swapped it out for a much later M272 which in itself would be a very good reason to avoid it). It may be relatively rare (through most of the others having rusted away) but unlike w124 and the like it's not yet a classic. Even Mazda Xedos V6s (which really are rare) don't have any additional rarity value.

This mint C280 went through eBay for less (admittedly more miles but also effectively one owner and slightly later).

Sorry OP but I think you'll struggle to get anywhere near that asking price.

I have got the sills for the car and they and really good condition, and yes i am also aware it is a 2.8 litre. Sorry for putting down 3.0 litre guys. In addition to that the one that sold on ebay wasn't a sport that was a basic elegance. Whereas my one is a sport. And as i mentioned in the title i would be looking to achieve £2,000 or nearest offer. I would finish the car, however i haven't got the time to do so.

Sorry but I'm mostly with LK on this.
The only thing I would say is that these are now starting to become sought after if in good condition. Unfortunately there are some bodywork issues with the op's car which I feel will seriously devalue it.
I'm not sure that being a "sport" model is a particular advantage, at least for me. The Elegance version is, to my mind, nicer with more attractive trim and softer suspension, but that's a matter of personal taste I guess.
I wish the op good luck with the sale, but I think we're looking closer to £1k as a realistic figure.

Hopefully you might get £1000 as I mentioned above. I'm well aware of how nicely these drive, I have a much lower mileage C280 saloon and it makes me smile every time I drive it. However, that can't make up for poor bodywork. On the plus side yours is an estate and I think that might attract a small premium. So again, I feel £1k is about the upper limit in your case.

That's about where I'd expect it to be.
If it were as good as the eBay linked one then 1500-1750 might be possible.

To be fair someone that’s in the market for said model, would put the “Leg work” in and track down a rust free example.
Maybe trading it would be the best option.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

A rust free example is going to about as rare as rocking horse muck ! My C280 is about as rust free an example as is likely to be found on the general open market these days. Even this has some small patches of minor rust which I've treated and retreated in places. That said, you have to look for them. On a certain classic dealer site you will find some rust free examples recently sold, but these have sold for very considerably more than the figures mentioned in this thread.

If traded in, that'll go for scrap.
It needs replacement front wings plus rust repair and paint on most panels.
Sport and estate are both positives but even so, you'll be lucky to get more than £350.

Isn’t that 2k trade in deal still going, as long as it has a MOT ?
I know you have to buy something else, just a thought.

That's been finished for a long time now. But similar could be back soon, in a City near you.

I bought a genuinely rust-free S202 non-runner recently for £250. It was on Ebay for £400, then £300, so I went to view:
http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/index.php?threads/w202-1998-c200-estate.172887/

The OP's car has 210 front seats fitted (which have done loads more miles). Mine's the same. I'm not OCD but I can't live with the seat belts not retracting as intended, due to the seats' extra width.
