I don't know this (never looked), but I wonder if it's possible to peel the film off the cheap ebay aftermarket LED lights and stick them on your installed MB lights? Just a thought, I hate the damn things anyway

Sounds like a plan, I'll check it out

And just leave them as lights you mean? OR do you think you could replace the logo part?

If its just a sticker causing the projection pattern it will need to be cleaned off before a new sticker is put in. Assuming it is a sticker and based whats said already the problem may return so it may be prudent to leave without.
Again if you replace the sticker then maybe think about placing a protective film over it (that can stand temp fluctuations) to prevent mousture invress or a spray with clear-oat (prob better).
But it depends on what you like.
keep us posted how you get on.

Hi guys, new to the forum, I made an account to answer this. I had exactly the same issue and couldn't find out how to fix. Most of the replacements online are for mounting in the base of the door not the mirror.
After a LOT of searching I took apart the mirror assembly and got the part numbers for the projectors and went to MB dealership parts department who couldn't find the numbers on the system. Fortunately the guy was really helpful and did some digging for me, turns out you need to have the bottom trim replaced on each mirror. The trim comes with the projector puddle light already installed and you only then transplant the camera unit over in the new part.
I did the job myself (I'm just a DIY'er), it's not difficult at all, took about 10mins per mirror.
The part numbers are:
MB A292 810 47 00
MB A292 810 48 00
I paid MB (Blackburn) £48.80 each.
Happy to share details of how to do it if anyone needs more info.

Thanks for the heads up.
I had a look at the part and it puts some misconceptions to rest, seems
not to be a sticker but a projector.

Wonder if they get water in them leading to the problems the OP had, looks like it from the pics

@mioba yes, you're correct, I've read that the way they work is to shine a bright LED onto a mirror that has the logo printed on it which in turn reflects the light with the logo onto the floor. I think that whatever they use to print the logo onto the mirror flakes away to cause a poor image.

I didn't take a picture of the before so I rigged up the old part with a 9v battery to show how bad it was on the attached image, I also included a couple of images of the projector and also what mine looks like now I replaced the part today.

Hello, This is very useful. Thank you for taking the time to submit this information.

Can you tell me how you got the unit out? Did you just remove the glass, and then I presume everything is obvious after that? Thanks.
