I'm trying to get to the bottom of these engine problems I've been having. So far I've had a new intake manifold, new mass air flow sensor, mapped out DPF done. Engine management light is still on but this was everything that was picked up in the diagnostic. Wife was driving it on the motorway with my 1 year old in it and it cut out completely today. Anyone had any similar experiences with the 2.2 diesel engine?

Do you know the current codes the car has? Is the mechanic your using an MB specialist, as it sounds like they may be guessing?

I had it into a specialist for the intake manifold, then the other problems developed a few weeks later. Prior to the intake manifold I'd had 2 new nox sensors, new calliper, passenger airbag repair, and new rear shocks so as you can imagine the cost of running has become quite high so I turned to a friend who owns a garage and run the diagnostics to keep a check on my labour cost. From there the dpf was mapped out and then the new mass air flow sensor replaced. I think the map sensor was also replaced(or is it the same thing) I was experiencing surges and drop offs of power at the time. I did see the diagnostics on the screen of his tablet before and after. He was also able to soften the sport mode dampening on the suspension while I was there through his tablet. Unfortunately the car managed just one journey before the engine management light came back on. Ran good despite that for two weeks then went into limp mode when I was driving it the other week and now cut out on my wife. I'm away on a work trip just now so I'll not know until I get back and run another diagnostic in a couple of weeks time. Not been a good servant to me this car

What are the explicit fault codes to this fault? If you post them we may be able to help.

For all these replaced components you have had, they engine needs to be adapted with STAR and the software updated, or there is a strong likelyhood the EML light will return and limp mode situations, especially the case with NOx sensors.

There are more fixes with software now than ever before and if your chosen repairer doesnt have online star, then he won't be able to completely diagnose or fix your car.

I'll be having another diagnostic run and find out the codes. They were clear when I last left the garage. The guy is gonna check this for free so I'll see if anything is there. Sounds like it could be engine coding then?

What was the original problem.

And any fault codes.
I think it was the nox sensors first then the air intake manifold. I'll be taking it in for a diagnostic when I get home from this work trip.
