Hi
ML320 - 07 - My nearside front parking light is not working and it seems impossible to access it as it is behind part of the car frame. Can anybody tell me how its done please?

Is the Parking Light the same as the Side Light? If it is the same set up as my 2002 ML270 you have to remove the Headlight. It is not too difficult. On my model you unclip the trim below the headlight and take out three bolts, two below the assembly and one on top. Good luck, Peter.

Thanks Peter. Yes the parking light is the side light. Mine isn't the same as yours but I undid 3 bolts on the top of the headlight which allowed me to ease the the top out a bit and get some pliers on the fitting and get it out. Unfortunately I was having difficulty in getting the bulb holder back in due to lack of space, I have now managed to lose 2 bulbs in the long light cylinder!!!!!!!! so now need to remove the headlamp. Can't figure how it comes out as its pretty loose - doesn't seem to be another bolt - the trim underneath is the whole of the front panel of the car.

I replaced RH parking light bulb yesterday. It required removing front wheel and the forward section of the wheel bay liner. It was tedious but straightforward. You will need to ensure car is properly supported as you will have to sit in the wheel arch area. You will also need a very good lamp to light up the area you are working in as it is very restricted. You will need a long-nose pliers. Remove the two obvious electrical connectors in the area of operation including the Parking Lamp unit. Using the long-nose pliers gently turn the unit 90 degrees anti-clockwise. Fit new bulb and re-assemble. Tedious but not overly difficult.

I can't believe that a major car manufacturer such as MB would allow a simple change of a side light bulb to necessitate removing a road wheel and other trims. UNBELIEVABLE!!

ML350Cdi BE but now a Q3
It is crazy, tis true.....I thought I'd have the same problem with my neighbours brand new LR Freelander when I was looking at changing the driving pattern for continental use, but would you believe after two bolts on top of the lamp housing were removed there is an easily accessed large toggle on the back of the lamp which needs to be pulled up, this releases the bottom fixing of the lamp and the lamp just slides out.......it took literally 1 minute to change a bulb if in a hurry! Why oh why.....I'd never believe LR could show MB a lesson.
