I need a new rear shocker for my R Class. I'm not paying £400+ each from Mercedes especially as I prefer to replace suspension etc in pairs. eBay & the Interweb in general, shows them available from £125 each up to Mercedes prices.
Does anyone have experience or suggestions of where or where NOT to buy them from? I'm prepared to pay up to a couple of £hundred each

TIA

PS The car has Airmatic so needs shockers with ADS

At that price it has to be worth a go? I've not read anything bad about aerosus.

They're here. :D Surprised they not not supplied with new nuts as per the photos though o_O

But ..... they were supplied with an O ring over each stud. I'd seen mention of a seal in MBs fitting instructions, but assumed it had been lost in translation & would be a simple washer.

Job for tomorrow. Being grandad today :D

Piece of cake.
Thought I'd broke it though. I lifted the car on Airmatic before I started, fitted each side, then started the car & pressed the button to lower it. The dash showed 'lowering' but nothing was happening. Bugger! I'll drive down the road, so shut all the doors ..... there was a hiss of air releasing from somewhere & it started to lower. Never knew I needed all doors shut o_O

Anyway, all done. Both sides for less than the price of one from MB plus a few hours of my time. Though it took me longer, you could do each side in 90 mins.
Daveenty's 'favourite' indie implied the 3rd row seats needed to be removed to do the job when it just needed each interior rear removing .... 3 screws on each plus a few push in/on clips

It makes sense you'd need the doors shut. If you had a door open above a high kerb or low wall and it lowered....

It does if you think about, I'd just never had need to think about it. I just thought I'd broken my car somehow

It’s the hassle of removing and refitting which is particularly annoying though- however one step at a time

Indeed, though it's only a large bolt at the bottom & a couple of studs
