I've not MOT'd a car for years and am not what sure if anyone takes any docs with them anymore. Mine's booked in tomorrow.

Absolutely warmed up - an italiIttune up can work wonders on the emissions (especially in an older car like my 129 where the cat is half a mile from the manifold and takes ages to get hot enough to work).

MOT station knows when your old ticket expires so, as above you just need to take cash/credit card ;)

Thanks all. This is an infamous "free" halfords mot, so I've checked the tyre tread about 3-4mm rears. The only thing I'm worried about is pads, no issue, but I'm aware they are not far from needing a change. It's over 5 years old, but hey, my wife's 13 Yaris passes.

If you take your old certificate it saves the tester writing down the reg number and chassis number. Saves him a couple of minutes, puts him on your side from the off

Passed without any advisories, I was worrying about nothing. Not bad for a free MOT. chuffed.
It was in at 8:00 and done just before 9:30.

All four of our cars go to Halfords for their test and have done for a few years now.

No complaints as every issue they flagged up was genuine.

It is good that you have a time slot with Halfords as our old , now retired, tester would need the car for a day which was a PITA.

We were impressed, nice and efficient. Time slots are great. Our local garage has them in for a day and charges £52 because they send them off to be done

An an aside if you change your numberplate they no longer send you a new MOT certificate showing the new registration.
You don’t get much for your £80 these days...

During the Italian tune up work the brakes. You might be lucky but up here they get tight, especially Larisa's commute car.
Low pads isn't an issue as long as the braking efficiency is good, including the parking brake.
