Hi there,

My W202 - C220 diesel has a persistent problem. The engine "misses" randomly when its accelerating or cruising. Doesn't matter if my foot is on the floor, or tootling along at 30. It feels like fuel starvation, but there's plenty of diesel getting through. I'm thinking it could be air getting into the system, as every so often the diesel pump races and is fairly noisy in normal running. I changed the fuel filter last week and it was really clean.

Am I right? If I am, how is the air getting in? If I'm wrong, please give me some clues.

Thanks!

If air is getting in it probably won't run or be a pig to start.

Its probably an injector problem.

Remove them and get them tested.

I run a dose of injector cleaning fluid through the tank every couple of months. It's lovely and smooth apart from this dit dit dit effect every so often. What does the test comprise of?
