Hello

4 days of using my 65 plate E 220 , been testing the Sat NAV, it does not seem to have most of the house numbers , for on my street I cant see my house number they seem to start from double digits and mine is 4 , tried to go to another place and again the house numbers were not there, it started from another series

Does it mean the Sat NAV is out dated and would the dealer update it for free ?

Sat navs are always out of date, even the latest updates miss small roads off by several years.
None have got around to putting numbers on all roads yet so old houses and roads are not as good as they could be.

Sat navs are great but not perfect by a long way.

This is a significant issue with the data for COMAND I have found. When I first bought my e class I typed in my postcode and the range of numbers was for further down the road. I also had a similar issue with several other postcodes covering dispersed geographical regions, but some where fine too. My house pre-dates any satellite in space, so it's not a "new build" issue!!

I'm not sure who supplies map data for Mercedes, but it does have a few issues, for example approaching Stratford Upon Avon it shows a petrol station in the middle of a field that's. Been a field for at least 20 years!!!!

Never put your address in your sat nav, if you were on holiday many miles away from home and the car got stolen, they could be in your house before you could get there.

For me I just enter any road in my home town other than my own.

TeleAtlas do the data for MB.

And very much what Malcolm said. Even the house at the opposite end of the street you're going to.

I'd love someone to steal mine and use the stored 'home address' to go to my house.

It will take them straight to the joint North Yorkshire Police/Monkey (RMP) station near me. :D

They'd probably nick the red wheel nuts off the Monkeys' Rover Carl ;)

No the case anymore for most non-proprietary devices.

Sygic's updates are much more frequent than several years.

There's also the ability to self-update maps on your device.

They use Mundeo's these days.

How Mondane ;) I hope they are still painted green and black DP and brushed in petrol/oil mix by whoever in MT Div has been gripped this week ;)

No they are blue and yellow like proper fuhrer cars. Makes them feel important when they 'blue light' to someone not ironing their kit properly.

Maybe they should walk around with their hands in their armpits like the rozzers on the street do. That really grips me.

I thought kit ironing went out with MTP, doesn't it destroy the IR properties or was I told twaddle?

Indeed.

I wasn't sure who the previous owner of my car was but I now know where he lives, works and saw a photo of my car on street view at his place of work. All because he hadn't wiped the sat nav.

It does. But after approx 6 washes and it is gone anyway.

It's still in place to Iron it.

Same with my X Trail, A3 and 211... home, work, sisters/brothers/parents houses etc. I'm really CDO about wiping the memories of things that I then sell.
