Tony, If I was you write a letter to MB UK (Milton Keynes with all the information you have), they will then call the dealer. Dealers getting calls from MBUK is a big wrist slapping.
Thanks Mioba, I intend to. Just feeling at the end of my tether now over this. Can you believe, being just outside the 3 year warranty period, they have said they may charge!!!! Over my dead body will I pay.

Hi!...
Wow, in a way I’m pleased I’m not the only one! I absolutely agree with you, I’d brought mine from new and the dealership had no interest.... the fault that happened 9 times would always happen in exactly the same way each time (as I’d explain to them EVERY time I’d have to take it in!). I felt like because it was under warranty they didn’t really care or want to solve it! Twice it happened when I was driving through france , so cost me a couple nights stay as the Mercedes dealership had to wait for the part... a couple of occasions I was asked if I’d run out of adblue!! Nooooo!!
With mine it would be a case of Engine management light would come on , 10mins later I’d get the Alert pop up ‘adblue check manual’ then 10mins after that night start after 500miles...

it caused me so much stress, every time the car pinged or made any noise my heart would stop as I thought it was adblue.. again!

i started looking at Audi’s .... I did end up getting another mercedes, 6 months on it’s been fine . If it ever happened again I’d NEVER get a mercedes!

Did you get a petrol or diesel engine this time? The 250d I find excellent, not suicidially fast like the AMG engines but fast enough, flexible and pretty economic. I love the car but this fault seems inherent and lots of people seem to experience it. MB like you to believe you're the only one with it and it's your fault!!!

Good one, I guarantee the response from the dealer will be a step up as it goes direct to the Dealer Principle.

Keep us posted

My previous one with the issue was a 250d brilliant blue C-class estate, it was the AMG premier plus package and I absolutely loved the car! it looked gorgeous and as you say felt fast (although I've never driven an AMG!)

I was so sad to have this issue with it, but honestly the stress of dealing with it actually brought on shingles! on one occasion when it happened I was in tears in the dealership as they 'couldn't fit it in' to get 'looked at' for another week and I needed the car to go to my mums funeral! as I told them - Yes I could have made it, but I was living in holland at the time and Id have probably had about 20 miles left before the dreaded 'no start'....

Ive now got a GLE 350d I convinced myself the issue I had 9 times in 2 years with the other car surely couldn't happen again - and touch wood all seems ok....

I was also going to write to MBUK but to be honest I was exhausted by it all ....

P.s... how do I start another thread anyone? i'm trying to work out if my new car has the active park assist (when it parks for you) Ill freely admit my parking is terrible! and use to love having it in my other car! not sure if its only on the premier plus package you get it?

Find the section you want (Electrics perhaps) and hit the Start Thread button on the top right.

In answer to your question, you almost certainly have Active Park Assist as my 2018 GLC had it. It’s scary but amusing to use it but I’ve only done it a couple of times to try it out.

Basically, drive past the space you want and stop and that gives the car a chance to measure the space. From memory, the symbol on the dash display should turn blue. If the space is on the right hand side, you should have your indicator on as that helps the car look for a space on the right. Select reverse and, hopefully, follow the instructions on the dash board. All you have to do on mine is use the accelerator or brake when instructed by the car and look out for idiots and to make sure the car is not going to hit something it’s missed. It does all the steering for you.

Have a try sometime!

Trust that at yr peril. It's going to be you paying when it backs you into something. I tried mine, it stopped me 6 in from front of car behind.

Hi.... yes I used it all the time on my previous car, only with this new one It doesn’t come up with the message when I select reverse - despite doing everything I should - so made me wonder if it actually has this feature on it? As I had some tell me it’s probably only part of the ‘premier plus package’. (My new one is just the ‘premier package’)

Haha! Well I always made sure i was doing the braking park, and checking my mirrors... I just let it do the steering Bit ! It’s the one thing that helped me out many times on a parallel park

My W166 ML has it, you get an arrow at the side of the blue P when it's sees a space big enough. I rarely use though .... how many times do you actually parallel park? After owning my car a year & a half I actually managed to make it 'un-park' .... :D

Yep, get the arrow... it’s literally just the point you put it in reverse and it’s then it would normally ask you and you press ok..... mine doesn’t ask?
I have to parallel park quite a bit ... I do try to avoid having to ... especially now

I’ve just checked the online manual for the GLE and it sounds like a more comprehensive system that operates the accelerator and brakes for you as well. According to this page, you have to press a button to start the operation. Do you have that button?
