New C200 Sport

I notice that there are now as many of the new shape petrol C200 C Classes on the Sport spec on the MB web site as there are diesels. These cars are all around 10k miles on 14 and 64 plates.

I know the fuel consumption figures are misleading, but with an Urban of around 40MPG for petrol, maybe the benefit of diesel isn't as attractive for the fleet users as it once was.

For me, I would stick with petrol given my annual mileage and also for better reliability, but what do you folks think?

agreed. they will pre register demo/press/promo cars and they will use the petrol model to potentially boost the refinement apparent to the public, as ANY diesel has yet to be as quiet and smooth as an equivalent petrol. so they use the petrol model to hook you in, and also as they will make 'X' amount of cars for launch date, the diesels will sell to most people easier than diesels (after all, most people buy MB because they do a fair few miles) so theyre left with a glut of petrol cars which and up, as JBell said, being MB's own fleet.

I know that mercedes has sold off many C class cars cheap to the dealers that want them, my own local has more than 200 all going out on lease.

Re this debate on petrol diesel the petrols are coming back into their own now, they can do good MPG and no PDF to think about or other diesel problems that can arrise.
