I have had reoccurring problems with the battery and I was aware it was likely to mean a new battery which i have done costing £150 plus labour and diagnostics on the ignition.

My keys would would often fail to light up the dash lights or start the engine and it took repeated attempts using either key to get it going. I now have a new Electronic Ignition Sysyem on order ( 3 - 5 days) at a cost of £529 fitted.

I see there are companies that claim to repair them for around £120 anf I wondered if anyone has had this done and how effective was it ? I am taking the dearer option just to be safe as the wife uses the car and she is getting pretty annoyed at this problem.

So £729 gone in a flash. Just spent £360 0n the brakes on discs and front pads and £900 over the last few months on tyres. the bills are mounting could be time to go and get a lease car.

Never had a problem until Brexit and now the German Car is playing up lol.

There's a firm in Birmingham called RMK and I've a feeling they appear on here sometimes. That would be my first port of call for key / EIS issues. They have a good reputation.
With regard to leasing I'm afraid it's a never for me. Paying all that money out monthly and never owning the car ? No thank you. You have to remember the leasing company is there to make money and someone has to pay. No prizes for guessing who.
Good luck with things.

you need to get your head round how much do you value peace of mind (having a warranty and the fact its unlikely to have any issues in the time you have it, as DTF is still years away), having the very latest toys, and the very latest safety systems....

then do some maths of the cost of breakdowns (sitting at the side of the road wishing you were anywhere else, how this could be jeopardising your job or next promotion, you or your partners safety waiting to be mown down by a lorry driver who 's been doing 20hrs straight watching porn on his mobile), paying the AA or RAC 150 a year, the hideous cost of repairs every week, taking days and days of holiday to sit in commuter carnage trying to get the car to a garage on time...

vs the joy of having a car that just works, that's always ready for your benefit when it's probably costing you only £5 a month extra
