I find the new style is not as user friendly or as clear.

I was able to have up to 40 posts per page etc.

JUST NOT AS GOOD - WHY THE CHANGE?

Can people see who liked a post. I like a one press acknowledgement as the old thanks button. I like to know who else found a post useful but didn't need to reply

I'm finding it better to be honest- you can edit via the edit button, upload pics easier, and the 'like' button just as easy as thanks...however you would be better posting in the MBO,our Mercedes....section and the admins will see your issues and help

changing the forum style in the preferences to 'Mercedes custon style' improves it.

however, how do I set the preference to show the newest replies at the top rather than having to go all the way through to the end to see the latest post in a thread?

I have to say I do prefer the old format too, probably just a matter of getting used to it. Also is it my imagination but are there less posts now ?

I thought that as well , it seems to me that Malcom Television was a HUGE contributer to all things Forum related . (Wish you well Television and back contributing !)

.
It was convenient to have the same interface for this and the other side forums.

The new one is familiar to me, as this is the same software the DashCamTalk forum uses. I too picked the "Mercedes custom style".

However, I could do with a one-click marking forums read, without having to confirm, and with a choice of displaying xx number of post per page - I always pick maximum, as scrolling down is a lot faster, than going to a new page every 20 posts.

I rathef like the new forum. I use the Mercedes template so i can see how many likes i have had and others have had. I also like that when you click on s thread it takes you straight to the first unread post.

Really think these gripes would be better posted where the admin can see them? I'm not sure they will always look on this thread area? Just a suggestion....

Hi @houseboss2 this question unsurprisingly has been asked before the old site had been pretty much unchanged for 12 years so understandably any change is going to be difficult My reply is this.

The old forum system was just that old. The version of the software we had wasn’t being developed at all and although it worked how users are accessing the forum has changed over the last few years with the majority of our users using phones to access the site. Although the old software had an upgrade path the feedback from those that did upgrade wasn’t always great, and if we had done an upgrade it would of made it a lot harder to move to another system.
Adding to this,
The old site scored very poorly on usability using a phone (I didn't find it too bad but google etc thought otherwise) So a change had to be made, numbers of posts and threads per page are globally set and can't be changed on a per user basis to prevent links etc breaking, however I will look into the possibility of an add on that will allow a user to change the default view as I understand it makes browsing easier for you.

@geraldrobins the ability to edit a post is still there but will expire after five hours.

@Alfie I can't immediately see how to sort posts like that on a user basis, but if you click on the thread title it will take you to the last unread post in the thread. See the image below.

I don't know about anyone else, but I find the new site to be extreeeeeeemely slow to respond in comparison to how it was before. Especially when replying to a post (quoting).

that's odd Craig, I'm finding it the opposite, much quicker in IE and Firefox, older iOS isn't quick though and not tried from anything newer so that may be better?
