New OEM discs ?

As above people , new MB discs with the grey painted finish.

Grey coating , remove or leave on ?

I know the first few applications of the brake will clean them up but is it better to remove it prior to fitting them.

I intend to paint the non contact parts prior to fitting but it was the grey coating on the pad faces of the disc I was wondering about.

Just take a wash with petrol and it will all clean up

They'll scrub off Kenny but as Malcolm says remove it if you feel better...

I was always told this coating helped with the bedding in of new pads and the disks, No idea if hats right but just what I remember

Hi Kenny, We left coating on and as i said, brakes are first class..

Too late now guys , it's all off and lying on the garage floor.

It seems like grey primer and not anything abrasive, we will see tomorrow.

Dont clean the discs off, especially the grey facing, its there to help the pads and discs bed in on the first couple of applications.

Agreed, My main dealer said "dont remove the coating on the disc face, its meant to be there , obviously if you get grease on it , then degrease it with meths or something"
