Don’t seem to bad without ED....
Didn’t like the 3rd wing tho.....
Saw that episode Colin and I agree with you on both counts
Watched it last night.Much better than I expected.Did not miss Ed at all. Augurs well for future episodes.
Haven't seen it .. where was it on?

Discovery channel Gordon...
IMHO i did miss Ed as he has a natural way with motors and he suited the program better.
Last night ...yes that Cosworth is a nice motor but they were so cheesy about it that if i heard praise once more i would of screamed.
Why should those two who are into motors be so OTT about an Escort i just don`t know?
i think I saw the episode, or something similar a while back somewhere. they bought the car from a guy, added the 3rd wing that was in the original design plans (and IMO looked CR@P!!!) then sold it back to him (with a few niggles fixed etc) for about $15k more!
as for why are they so into 'an Escort', well to those of a certain age bracket, the Cosworth isn't JUST 'An Escort' it was 'THE Escort'. easily modified and could give big power even by modern standards, these things were FAST. (especially for their time).
I drove a Monte carlo edition one on a couple of occasions. these were allegedly tuned to 300bhp from the factory (I never found out if it was true or not, but it was certainly a good bit quicker than the standard Escort Cosworth previously owned by the same person) and the owner also had a Ferrari (F355? whatever was the new one at the time, basically) and his thoughts on it were 'well it will stick with the Ferrari until about 140MPh, then the Ferrari comes into its own....'
so yes. just an Escort. that could scare Supercars and with money spent on mods, beat them. there are Cosworths known in Europe (I forget where now but ive seen youtube videos) that are pushing out 600BHp WITHOUT NOS
Quite enjoyed it
The guys at Nordic Tuning have a couple of road going Saab 9-5s pushing in excess of 700BHP without NOS too....
Watched it last night, I didn't think it flowed quite as well as it did with Ed on board. I thought Ant was trying too hard, maybe he thought Ed was a hard act to follow. I am sure it will settle down. Still quite enjoyed it though.
This is what i could see that descriptions of the Escort were all OTT ......it was if as you say they were trying to impress the viewers by exaggerations?
About Ford ....i have owned two Mk1 Lotus Cortina`s one Twincam Cortina Lotus Mk11 and a new Daytona Yellow Mexico in 1975 .......i love Ford performance motors but they are still just fast Ford`s and nothing more!
I do understand the motor`s importance but it is the program here we are discussing and not the car?
Here is a powerful Escort:......http://jemsracing.co.uk/cs_dragescort.html
I have watched the first 8 episodes of the new series and I must admit that it's not quite the same without Edd.
However, Ant is good and does plenty of work to the cars, including lots of fabrication (won't give too much away)
There were two points that I noticed.
1. The mechanical side doesn't seem to have lost any airtime
2. Mike has stopped his annoying mechanics, leaving it to Ant
Makes me wonder, if they hadn't gone in that direction in the last series, maybe Edd would have stayed.
Ant is not Edd but he is good and good enough for me to have watched all episodes
Ive also watched all the new ones already.
Ive watched the show from the very start and watched Ed grow in front of the camera, he was very wooden and nervous in the early days.
Have to say though i prefer Ant Anstead. He's at least equal to Ed in mechanical ability but i think he's better in front of the camera.
I think the show has a new lease of life now he's in it.
Having watched the episode with the Supra last night I thought Ant was much more relaxed in his role. I Almost forgot that there was an Edd !!
Edd who ?
Just watched this weeks one, think I am liking Ant more at the moment, less whining going on so far!!!
I do like Ant. I do feel however they have finally taken on board some of the criticism (less of Mike on the tools for example) to please the viewers. Just wish they did it when Edd was there.
I'd think that was more because Ed was already partly out the door with the program and they had a schedule to keep.
I watched the first two the other day, actually alright, still needs a bit of something (not sure what) but its an easy watch
Ant has pretty good credentials. Before getting into TV, he had a company called Evanta making some really good looking and expensive cars. The company seems to have been wound up now, but if you google Evanta Motor Co and look in images you will see some of his creations
