Hi All,
Just upgraded to a 2013 C class auto. 1.6 petrol turbo 36000 with FSH.
Absolutely loving the car but the check engine light has just come on. Annoyingly 400 miles outside of the dealer's warranty!
Obviously with my inexperience, I'm suspecting O2 sensor but just wondering if anyone with more knowledge can interpret these codes, please.
Or maybe recommend a decent indie in the Derby area.
Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

OBD codes are as follows,

P0140-13: O2 Sensor - Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0141: O2 Sensor Heater - Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
P0036-13: Heated Oxygen Sensor (H02S) Heater Control - Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 2)
Last Trouble Code(s)
P2336-27: Cylinder 1 Above Knock Threshold
U0402-08: Invalid Data Received From Transmission Control Module
Permanent Trouble Code(s)
P0000: No trouble code

What are you using to read the codes?

Hi It's an OBD 2 facile app for iPhone, together with
what I'm guessing is just a generic code reader.

Ok. It's just we've had occasion where the code reader interpretation was off the mark and reported the wrong thing.
As it stands the secondary lambda is called out in most of those codes (including one reporting as something else - P2236). My personal suggestion would be clear all codes and see what comes back. If the P140 comes back you could take a chance on the code being correct and replace the second lambda, or better still if the app supports live data look at the output of the second lambda and see if it looks sensible, or best of all have it read on STAR to confirm the diagnosis.

The app does support live data I can see the 1st sensor but I seem to be unable to access the second one. I’ll check again but that have anything to do with the ‘open circuit ‘ reference in the pic? 9D83E067-B9B9-432A-AB5B-447E4D0AAC44.png

I wouldn't trust anything else than SD in this case. You can also try iCarSoft but other than this I wouldn't trust anything.

It may well do. The second sensor is open circuit according to that (and other) codes.
It also appears to have a short circuit between the heater element and the sensor (quite probably related to the sensor failure).

As noted earlier you have three options. One of those is now gone leaving the replace and hope option and the Read the codes with a proper reader (MB STAR) to verify the errors are being reported correctly before spending money on parts.

Brilliant, think I might get it read properly.
Thanks for the advice.
