Trying to understand a fault I am having, which is low boost at certain times,

I noticed there is oil grease on the air charge hose, at the connection where it attaches to end of two turbos before it enters the intercooler (I have the OM651).

It this part

Is this an indication of a leak? Is this an easy part to replace i.e. do I need a special tool to remove and apply the clips.

Normal for oil to be on the inside of these hoses but, if on outside, there is a weep somewhere. Could be a split or just faulty clamping on the ends.

Does this need a special tool to remove and replace, i.e. can I do this?

Its not oil....its carbon from the EGR system mixed with condensation in the manifold which forms an oily residue.

Have you measured your turbo pressure or had the system smoke tested? Lots of faults for low boost on 651's. Faulty pressure sensors and snapped inlet manifold bolts also cause this issue.

When you say it is NOT oil, Steve, I would suggest that the condensate is oil vapour released by the PCV valve that makes for the very oily mess, once mixed with the egr contaminants. But, where this apparent leak is, is situated before the entry of the egr as I understand it, so the "oil" is pretty much just that - oil condensate.
There has to be a split in the hose or a poor seal on a hose end to leak like that.

I am pretty sure I have a leak, as get low boost when the engine attempts to regen.

I would remove and replace the hose, but those clips concern me, just wondering if a need a special tool to remove and then install those clips?
