hi I’ve noticed a few posts about deteriorating panoramic roof seals
I bought a Mercedes E 350cdi back in 2017 it was on a 2011 plate everything was fine until one day at work in 2018 I noticed bits on the panoramic roof ? It was the seal fitted to the side part of the roof ! I checked some forums where people had the same sort of issue so I booked in to mb to be on the safe side I had both sides replaced 20/1/2018 20 days later again at work one side of the seal had what looked like perished so off I went back to mb thinking it was a faulty part , this was not the case ! It was seagulls /crows they fly over your car and the panoramic roof looks to them like water especially when rain is on it so they come onto your roof to drink when they realise it isn’t water they peck around normal till they find a soft spot usually the seal , they peck at that then fly off ,I’ve had to get the side replaced again 20 days later
