Parking sensors. Probably a stupid question

I have a faulty Offside Outer sensor, as diagnosed by MB main dealer.
They want £297 to replace the thing but I've seen them for about the £50 mark. There are, however, a number of different makes.

So, do I have to replace like-for-like or will any new one swap straight in?

TIA

That amount of money to replace a parking sensor is atrocious. Find a good independent, and Im sure it will be over half that cost.

To answer your question, you need to match the part number, but most the of the MB ones are compatible.

I though it was rather high - bit like the £847 for a new child seat sensor and the £480 to sort the drivers door lock (the dreaded bouncing button)

Mind you, £555 for the NSF strut which may be the cause of a rattle seemed fine.....not!

ECP make supply good quality OE parking sensors, I fit them all the time as most customers find £65 for the sensor extortionate. I think the ecp ones are around £35. If it’s the outer rear sensor I can do those without taking the bumper off.

I had this on my BMW630. This was a damp issue. Sprayed WD40 Into it, worked perfectly.

I just fitted a wireless rear camera that is a number plate surround instead, but if you really want sensors, maybe not a sensible answer. Something to consider, but more work of course.
