Hi guys,

Can someone point me in the right direction for getting an emulator attached for the passenger occupancy sensor?

I’m getting a bit tired of this SRS error.

I’ve had a new pad put in, and the loom stripped out and replaced but the damn thing still periodically comes back.

The error is occupancy seat squib faulty or some such error. It indicated an issue with the voltage.

Having already replaced everything on that side I just want the annoying error to be gone.

Someone mentioned to me you can get emulators, I’ve seen them on eBay but not sure which one or what setting I need. I assume you just splice into the pad wiring and attach the emulator and it steadies the signal / voltage?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I think you can use a 3.9ohm resistor in the connector to simulate the squab being there. Three wires and across two of them. Trial and error unless someone on here has a diagram.
Think it will also fire both airbags even if the seat is empty.

Thanks, hoping to find a guide or info on how to do it. I had the heated seat pads changed, after that had SRS errors with the seat pad on and off for the past year. I had the loom pulled, there was a break in it, that was replaced and also had the occupancy pad later replaced, but still get random voltage errors. Battery is new, all other sensors work fine. I just want the error to go away now since it’s annoying and there isn’t anything else I can change. I don’t trust Mercedes to fix it either, they’re useless. I’ll just throw money at them doimg what I’ve already done with no results.

Thanks.

I have repaired to many of these SRS occupancy errors to remember.

If the customer insists on using an emulator I make them sign a disclaimer.

Both front airbags will go off in the event of an accident so a child seat should never be fitted to the passenger front seat.

If the vehicle is sold the new owner is to be informed of the modification to the SRS system.

If I am asked to "look over" a car for a customer pre-purchase,
I check under the seats for these bypass emulators usually cable tied or just loose under the seats
and report according as they can be dangerous as the SRS system is compromised to detecting passengers.

That’s fine with me, my daughter is 17 and not planning on having another. I’ve owned the car for a long time and not planning to sell. I don’t understand why the error comes up atill. I can reset and it will last for about three months with people getting in and out and using the seat, but randomly it will just go off and need resetting. I can only assume something, somewhere in the car is causing the voltage to fluctuate occasionally when the ignition is on. But would rather it just go away now.

A rear facing seat shouldn't be fitted in the front but you're allowed to fit a forward facing seat.

You need to read what I'm talking about in full context,
I don't know why you have truncated the post to make a point I never suggested ? :)
