Spoke too soon, every picture I posted on all the forums I have used in the last 10years have gone.
Big issue now is to start down loading all the pictures to my laptop and photobucket have stopped allowing this
I will try again tomorrow...................May have been too many at one time?
Can they legally prevent you downloading them?
Does the Ts and Cs say anything about legal copyright transfer?

No, they say I can download all my pictures to my computer without any problem, I started doing this and noticed in my personal tab that the email address I had when I set up is no longer in use, so changed it at the last minute then carried on downloading. I think it might have set off an alert and they have stopped any more down loading just in case they suspect something a mist.

Could be, try about 150-190MB at a time - should go through any bandwidth restrictions they might have imposed: I suspect many people are downloading their archives right now.

I only ever uploaded low-res files, keeping all the originals (and many reduced size ones) on my drives (both local and off-site), so I just deleted everything and closed all the accounts - had six different ones, apparently - for different forums (or rather, usernames) ...

Thanks GLK, luckily I still have all the originals which have been copied to disc, many many disc's, so alot of these I will end up with doubling . It could be as you say, too much at once and there could be lots down loading everything ;)
I have successfully down loaded 3 albums so far :)

Finally got my email from Photobucket. Its going to take a long time to transfer to my PC then upload to another host (probably Flickr)
This is what Photobucket say re saving your photos.

Are my pictures still safe?
Yes! All your photos are still available by logging into your Photobucket Account. Photobucket has only restricted the ability to view your photos on 3rd party sites.

Can I download my Photos?
Absolutely, at any time. It is an easy four step process:

Step 1. Login to your Photobucket Account

Step 2. Navigate to your library page

Step 3. View a photo and click the download button

Step 4. The picture will be saved to your computer

So, has Photobucket made it impossible to share ANY photos on forums etc without paying? I can even see any of my photos there ..... but I'm on a tablet in a field at the moment

Once you get their email asking you to upgrade ,your photos then disappear from any third party site if you don't upgrade.
A terrible decision that will probably leave Photobucket with very few customers.

Seems that you can download a whole album to your PC very quickly.
Just transferred all my E55 photos to my PC as a zip file in under 30 seconds. (180 photos)

That will depend on the resolution and quality of the image and on your broadband speed.

I cant be sure on this but I put a few photos on here via photobucket and as far as I'm aware, ive had no notice to upgrade. I think it might be a case of once you have used it to put photos up over a certain number of times over a certain period or once you have over a certain amount of photos stored with photobucket they want to charge you. I could be wrong though.

What p/b should have one would be to leave all the 3rd party to date with the already down loaded pictures. From now on start their upgrade and charge symptoms. There will be a lot of blogs that will be ruined because of this and a good lawyer would be well rewarded with a lawsuit stuck on p/b??? o_O

La la la la - we only get 5Mb broadband. Its all a bit sh*te round here for internet connectivity

The downside of living in the countryside?
I guess decent bb speeds will eventually become the norm for all.

Strange when what we consider some third world countries have far better speeds that here in the UK.

We live in the middle of a town. I can walk to Halfords and Homebase in under 10 minutes and Tesco, Aldi or Waitrose in under 15 minutes!

I thought you were living out in the sticks with that speed.

Cable is the way to go if its been installed but unless you rely on it for business its another outlay.
Are BT your bb provider?

They are but no one has fibre here nor cable. I'm getting a MiFi for France (that is in the sticks and would have 1MB if we had a landline). Too expensive for here though.
