Hello everyone, i've been happyliy driving my recently bought class e 320 cdi,w211 v6 mercedes without any problems for 6 months now, but on the last week, he decided to go in limp mode, going extremely low, and making me unable to overtake anyone o the highway, throwing out the code of swirl flap motors, after reading some threads in this forum, i've come across with the swirl flap motor bypass trick, with using a 4.7k ohm resistor on the 4 pin ports, everything went out very well, the car has gained its power back, but, its badly misiring, specially after 2k rpms, the revs after each misfire gets up crazy, and hitting 100km/h is almost impossible, ........ anyone of you, had this experience? engine badly misifring after doing the 4.7k ohm resistor trick?

AFAIK the swirl flap resistor mod only works if the swirl flaps failed in the closed position. Or the other way round. Some more knowledgeable man may come along soon to advice better.

Yep , one for the road is correct , the swirl flaps have to be operating correctly when the resistor goes in .

How do i verify if they're working well? Is there a way to force them fully open?

That's above my pay grade I'm afraid , hopefully someone else will reply . Otherwise you need to find a good Mercedes independent

I have not had any issues on my fathers... if anything it drives better

if the flaps are closed I'd expect less go, if they are fully open I'd see a reason for a small dip and some smoke under 2k and possibly more go higher up... don't forget the crud once past 60k miles has almost closed the small ports regardless of whether the flaps move or are disconnected

I think your problem is not related to the swirl motor. More likely a faulty O2 sensor.

My advice as an independent is don’t put resistors and other add ons to things that shouldn’t have them. If you repair your car properly then you will always know where you stand with the fix and won’t risk introducing new faults.

So why not buy a swirl flap motor, they aren’t expensive, and then you can diagnose your car properly.
