I am concerned over the paint quality on the W211. My wife bought me a new W211 whilst in Germany last year and the paint really isn't wearing well after less than a year of use.

If any members have (helpful) suggestions to the problem I would be greatfull.

My W210 paint, although stone chipped is of much higher quality. Perhaps it is a water based paint issue or that it really hasn't keyed well to the metal. The one plus is that there is no rust.

The usual areas, bonnet leading edge and wings are ok it is mainly the roof and mirrors that are the problem.

I have attached a photo so you can see the problem

JEEPERS

that is shocking I would drive it down to MB HQ and park it outside the front door. With a big sign and keep pipping the horn, you will definately get some response.

provided it came with a horn! :D

Taken it to my dealer and although they acknowledge that there is a problem they will have to undertake a full analysis of the paint. Their first impressions are that the paint has been 'keyed' so would fall outside any warranty :(.
They did note that the towing eye prefitted was useful option though, which does not bode well for future reliability :(.

Attached is my W210 for comparrison. As you can see the paint is immaculate, especially considering the age.
It looks like I will be keeping it for awhile longer.

Nice body for the year, but...

Those allys look decidedly cheap aftermarket items - we all know proper avantgarde rims are polished on the edge only. And those side window tints look a bit dark to be legal...

...or are you just trying to bling it up a bit to get some cred with the Impreza and Evo crowd? ;)

Genuine Avantgarde alloys and no window tint, it is the black interior that has affected the photograph, although since you mention it I could always try and put some 20mm (dub) rims on it.
One thing about this W210 is that it will never rust. MB must have tried a special plastic body in certain markets as a trial.

You must have re-shelled the car and got a good paint job done I didn’t think that car would have seen the road again:D :D
