The occupancy mat comes with the cable that plugs in to the block under the seat, although it sounds like there may be other cut wires under there from your earlier posts. These are common for broken wires under the seat anyway. I've seen some funny things before, from false seat not latched warnings to whole flashing dash cluster

Don’t know if it’s relevant, but the seat now isn’t folding properly, as in its tips, but does lift up like the drivers one does! I’ll snap some pics when I can in the daylight of the mess under the seat, but for now, some more positive news :D

The facelift grill arrived and I have to say I am loving it!!

Old v New compared, and a few more of the new grill. Easiest mod to do, just 2 bolts and a few clips :)

As a result of the long drive cross country (which I and the car loved, it was such a consummate comfortable cruiser and returned over 26MPG), it is rather filthy!

any plans to upgrade the alloys sasha ?
No, only to get the faces sprayed to get rid of the kerb damage. They are immaculate otherwise and I love the design. I did originally think grey but I’ve decided to keep them silver for now :)

Even though it’s a silver car with silver wheels, it’s still a good look :) I am hopeful a good blow over the faces will take them back to mint as the barrels are like new, it’s just the kerb damage which is annoying!!

Well, lots has been happening in CLK land, the car has been pressed into near daily service as the Volvo needed some time off for a new wheel stud to be fitted after one snapped when switching over to winter rubber (typical) and then a fuse in the CEM blew which caused a major electrical meltdown (this has happened before so I knew straight away what to look for, but I needed some 15A fuses as typically I couldn’t put my finger on any and some daylight which took me a few days to find) so as a reward for it’s reliable, comfortable, stylish and surprisingly economical service I treated it to a few things.

Firstly sidelights. I hate having LED’s in as they always blow but they are the only bulb type that really matches xenon colour temperature. Sadly they didn’t work in the CLK, they just flashed occasionally which was annoying (lucky I didn’t pay for them) so I decided to look into option 2, premium incandescent side light bulbs. I plumped for Osram Cool Blue Intense bulbs and I fitted them with good effect.

Old

You can see the yellow tint to them here.

Now the new ones are better

EC39B524-2C44-452B-A2B2-7B5538A46914.jpeg

But still a little less than white next to the xenons

I am happy with them though, just have to change the fog light bulbs to match as when the proximity lights come on they don’t match across the front of the car now!!!

Then this happened

Which was nice :)

Finally I’ve decided to splash out on some 2017 spec goodies, 4 new style centre caps and a new style badge. Looking forward to getting them fitted, see how I feel about them :D

Its dirty. Shame on you Sasha! :p

Loving the mods so far. Done nowt to mine as yet. Probably wait until the new year now, as I'm trying to keep it off gritted roads and using the Mk4 Golf as the daily. However, one of the techs at work has asked me if it was for sale. Which it could be for the right money. Might be back to 1 car ownership soon .....

Well, it’s a bit dirty but it won’t be soon, it’s on the to-do list, along with a million other things and uni work and an ill child :( I hate that it lives outside and on a street but that’s why I have it and not an older classic as the condition of such a car would degrade quickly in my ownership. There’s more to come as I tackle the drivers seat wear and find some new floor mats. It’s all coming together then some paint business in the new year. It never stops!!

+1 for Osram Cool Blue w5w's, although I've gone with Phillips BlueVision ones this time around as two sets of osrams blew quickly.

Is that with the Detail Bug? Looks awesome and the colour really suits it!

I wish I could post a clean pic of the car but sadly the daily service continues.

I finally had some time to take a few shots of the 2017 goodies though, but first, let’s see what nearly 1000 miles of winter driving has done to my lovely shiny car!!

Not ideal, but it’s on the ‘to do’ list :D

Anyway, the centre caps. Am I happy? Yes I am. Very happy, can’t wait to see them on clean wheels.

But the real change is up front with that new grill and now the new badge

F81160C7-0FDE-449A-95CA-52F2369200C1.jpeg

Makes it look really fresh IMO.

However, the eagle eyed will notice the badge looks wonky in that shot. I noticed that too so I had a look and it just came off. I hadn’t done a good enough job of fixing it down. This time I’ll get a proper adhesive pad and use proper badge adhesive to stick the edges down as modifying a genuine badge to fit probably wasn’t a very good idea, it’s been a bit more of a faff then I had hoped, but I’m working on it! Still shows that the new black badge looks awesome on a silver car :D
