purge valve for 95 c180

What is the normal "heart" rate of a purge valve?

When you can hear mine, its quite fast, about 3 or 4 beats per second!!

Although I can not hear the palse when I disconected the hose that connects the canister with the valve I felt the pulse and the vacuum.
Is this normal?
