The passenger door mirror housing on my 2000 R129 appears to have come loose, the housing moves but as far as I can see the mirror stays firmly in place. I don't know if somebody has clipped it in a car park or some yob has given it a belt as they've walked past although there's no visible sign of damage. Has anybody else had this problem and if so do you find a way to fix it please?

I do apologise, upon a second check the whole thing is moving, housing and mirror. Could it be something to do with the power folding mechanism, is there a way o tightening the mirror up?

Apparently from reading another MB forum it's likely to be that the hook the spring attaches to may have snapped. As nobody has come forth with any other suggestions I shall investigate this theory at the earliest opportunity. :)

These mirrors do sometimes come loose when hit or abused... If you spring it back against the wing then forward against the door..without hitting wing or door... then it should spring back into place.

So I had a look at my mirror today and it doesn't appear to be the spring as it pops back into place whether you push it forward or back. The whole housing seems to have slack in it, is there any way of tightening it up, is there some sort of ball and socket arrangement or a nut that can be tightened?

So this turned out to be a simple fix having searched for what seemed like an eternity I operated the power fold button in and out. I then pressed out a second time and as said on the age old post I found 'click' and it re-engaged properly and is now nice and tight again, happy days. :)
