r129 sl 300 1990 gear box oil leak

its coming from this area, what is this cover? can it be removed and offending gasket/o ring replaced with the gearbox in situ as there is not much space between this part and the inside of the tunnel or do i have to remove the gearbox?

well i showed this pic to the guys at mercedes and they seem to think it can be done so I've got myslef the o rings
