Can anyone help me with this problem with my wife's 1997R SLK ? After a period of wet weather, when she opens the boot water is dripping from the bottom of the boot lock mechanism onto the contents of the boot, much to her annoyance ! How is the water accumulating inside the boot lid itself ? Is it coming in through the boot keyhole or maybe the boot brake light strip ? These are the only two points of entry I can see ? I know there are switches and other things in there which control the roof, so i dont want this water causing problems with the roof operation

Grateful for any advice as usual !

Thanks, Tony

We had a similar issue with our SL500, water was getting inside the boot lid, this was seeping in through a small chip on the hi stop light on the boot lid. Once we fitted a new light is stopped letting the water inside the lid.
The only other thought would be water drawing up from the rubber seal and entering through small manufacturing holes in the boot lid itself when closed. This can be caused by drain holes around the boot lip being blocked?
