R230 boot open/close problem

Noticed yesterday that the soft close mechanism for the boot on our 03 SL350 no longer works. Central locking works as it should.
There is a good tutorial on tinterweb showing how to repair if leaking, but a bit confusing is the fact that the red button boot closer has also packed in.
Am I correct in thinking that the soft close operated by the pse pump is entirely separate from the button closer and that the latter is operated by a hydraulic pump? If so are there 2 different problems here?
Any advice where the pump for the button closer is and what it looks like would be very much appreciated.

When our red button stopped working it was the plug fallen off the back of the switch.

Thanks for that - will take a look at the switch itself. Am I right in thinking that the boot closer operating off the red button works off the roof hydraulic pump and not the pse pump?

Yes, boot closer uses roof pump. I wanted to retrofit this, but that would mean replacing the roof pump and that was too much like hard work
