Ah, my carpet in my 2004 car came right up. Yours is a much later car and they have obviously changed things. It is not helpful to glue the carpet to the floor.

In some ways I would be thinking "how long am I going to keep the car", and the answer would inform my decision as to how much time and effort to put in.

I keep coming back to the idea that they must have fixed the problem by the time your car was made.

I hope so (they have fixed the issue). I checked again and its actually 2011.

2011 was the very last year of production for the R230, so hopefully they had fixed it by then. All they had to do was stop water leaking down the bulkhead into the cab, not difficult I would have thought.

Indeed. I think it’s probably time to close this thread now given that I did in the end manage to free up the blockage. As a footnote I wonder if it’s worth contacting the manufacturer/UK main distributor or a good quality independent specialist to see if they know whether the tray was reconfigured to route the wiring away from the very bottom of the floor. It’s probably not important enough for them to answer, but I might try. There is a good quality local engineer in Wakefield called GAC who I’ve used before that may be able to advise.
