SBC hold not working. This doesn't seem to be an option according to the manual - but I can't get this feature to work. No warning messages.

Car does roll when you take foot off brake on a slope - not used to that with an automatic!

Hi,

Has it ever worked ? I only ask as there seems to be a knack. It took me a while to get the hang of it on my E class, then once on it displays SBCH or similar.

Once stopped, release the brake then firmly push the pedal back down and then release, see if the display shows SBCH.

Agreed, they take a bit of practice. Effectively it should just be one firm push - my 230 SL500 was anyway- then as said 'SBC' and 'HOLD' underneath is displayed
Others have mentioned a brake push, relax then harder push is necessary for SBC systems

M6 Cab - prior to that, SL63 AMG, A-M V8 Vantage, SL55, SL500 and many more
When you come to a stop & have your foot on the brake pedal to hold it, simply give it a further brief push & confirmation should come up on the left info screen - you can then take your foot off the pedal - the slightest touch to the throttle will disengage it

The hold feature is actually actuated by the gear selector module. Some of the time the software gets corrupted and the hold feature stops working. I believe there was a tips document on this some years ago. The fix was to replace the gear selector module..

Thanks Steve...wish I had asked you 8 months ago! Mine was a very intermittent failure and we couldn't get to the bottom of it which drove me slightly more insane than I am already

R230 SL500 - oh yeah!
Is SBC Hold standard on the R230? My manual isn't to hand at the moment... I'm sure I've engaged it or something like that, but I don't recall anything on the display. Something to check tomorrow...

I believe it was standard on the 500, not sure about the 350

Found it! The manual I have is not for the exact year of car I have and it seemed to suggest that it was only for the SL600 so I ignored that bit. Now I know how to use it - thanks for that.
