R231 500 engine question

Does anyone know from what build date did Merc uprate the 500SL engine from about 435hp to 455?
Google isn't helping so sure someone here will know. Thanks in anticipation.

2016 - along with the 9G gearbox.

That's what I thought but when I go on Mercedes approved to look at SL's they have 2014 models showing 455hp.

But the roof doesn't come down?

Exactly! 400 and anything HP is plenty for me but has to be a convertible.

It wouldn't be the first time dealers have the wrong information on the specs.....

The 2014 S class was uprated in 2014 but as far as I can tell the SL wasn't till 2016.

Certainly the 9G gearboxcame in with the 2016 facelift so would be logical to assume the power increase is concurrent.

You will have realised that the dealer adverts are created from templates; if they pick the wrong template....
