Not 100% exact, In North America, Colombia and Peru, the Uniroyal brand has been owned by Michelin since 1990, and outside those regions, the Uniroyal brand has been owned by Continental AG since 1979 following their acquisition of Uniroyal Europe, formerly known as Englebert.
Very similiar to Dunlop, they ceased to excist many years ago & the rights to use the Dunlop name were bought by several companies to use in their own seperate regions.
How big the Uniroyal brand now, it is not a brand that I would have looked at if it wasn't for members here. doesn't have that appeal that other brands like Michelen, pirelli, Yokohama and Goodyear have, to name a few.

At work, last April, we took delivery of a brand new (18 plate) Vito LWB 8-seater Traveliner, factory fitted with Hankook tyres. The rears lasted 9000 miles and the fronts 14000! At our average mileage of 2000 miles a week that would be a lot of tyres in a year if we stuck to the Hankooks.

As for the Uniroyals, no other tyre in my experience has the same wet weather grip, and they are reasonably quiet at 69 decibels. They can be a bit hard to find, but are well worth the effort.

Agreed. Driving in the wet is pretty much the same as in the dry and they don't seem concerned when the temperature drops either.

I'm fine with using them, a few here have them fitted. Hoping that they will last longer then the 6k that the Bridgestone Potenza S001's did!!

Bridgestone are not known for longevity, but it sounds like your right foot might have had an influence here too ;)

if I could get 12k from the rears I would be over the moon. I'm near 2mm on the rears so may order this week.

I was surprised as usually 10k is the most I have managed, they were down to the wear indicators though which I usually don't do.

I run them 2psi under the recommended on the rear and they seem to wear better and more evenly on the 18"

I have a set of RS 3's on my chimaera, I wouldn't use anything else.
Fantastic grip in wet and dry,and a progressive loss of traction when they do let go.

Are the indicator bars at 1.6mm? I would still be happy with 10k as I do drive quiet a lot of start stop and I do like to put my foot down a bit from the lights.

Historically not as well known in the UK, but in continental Europe they have been massive for decades. Bit like many didn't know of Vredestein outside of the Benelux countries, but they also do great wet weather tyres.

If anyone has ever driven in the Netherlands they will know that their road construction materials are not the best in wet / winter conditions, so tyre manufacturers have always focused on wet handling.

Hope you find them to your liking. Give them a few miles to get the releasing agents out of they way as you need to for all tyres.

I lived in Germany in the 60's & 70's for 12 years, Uniroyal & Vredestein were very popular. Remember buying my first Conti's in about 69. They replaced some Pirelli Cinturato's which were crap.

I'm sure I will, only driven about 5 miles so far, and with the predicted snow and sleet will park up and take the wife's car.
